OUR MISSION

Barb City Manor is a not-for-profit retirement home for senior citizens age 62 and older.  Our mission is to serve low to moderate income seniors in safety and comfort.

We are DeKalb’s independent retirement community. Established in 1979 our not-for-profit provides an alternative for people 62 years and older who no longer want the responsibility of home ownership.

We are located 6 blocks from downtown DeKalb, Illinois in the historic Joseph F. Glidden and Jacob F. Haish hospital. Well-kept lawns, trees and flowers add to the comfort and residential feel of home.

We are proud to offer amenities that are hard to beat. Studio and one-bedroom apartments in our secure four-story building offer privacy; while lounges, sunrooms, and common areas provide the opportunity to socialize with friends and family. Our apartments are equipped with an emergency call system in each room, and staff is on duty 24 hours per day for assistance, security, and peace of mind. Residents can stay physically fit in our exercise room, look their best with visits to our in-house hair salon, eat healthy in our restaurant style dining room, and enjoy a variety of activities and socializing with friends.
